The telenovela revolves around Leonel Carranza (Fernando Colunga), a man who lives in Villa Escarlata and owns the Montoro estate. Leonel celebrates the arrival of the New Year, but discovers that his wife and brother have betrayed him and stolen money from the company. Meanwhile, Alba and Gregorio are getting married, but someone from Gregorio's past appears at the celebration.

El adiós de un amor

Alarmed by Alba's fall into the river, Leonel rushes to rescue her, hoping to see her alive. After saving her, the farmer leaves her at the church without telling her that he was her greatest hero. Before Julia's fake funeral, Leonel has a powerful encounter with his sister Atocha, who shows him the same cruel expression as their father. However, he warns her that he will not follow in their footsteps. Having taken refuge in a convent after the disappointment she experienced and after the argument with her grandmother and brother, Alba is impatient to know who saved her from drowning in the river. Given the debts she owed Leonel, Covadonga asks for an extension to settle them. During the conversation, she doesn't hide her doubts about Julia's sudden death.
